ok...now back to football/futbol

This should be quite entertaining (see link above), especially if you enjoy the sweltering tension between the fans of Football European and those of you who love Football American (or Gridiron Football) as it is sometimes referred to. For those of you who don't know, David Beckham was the worlds best Soccer player in Europe until he was deemed over the hill and decided to now be the best Soccer player in America. And here's a lovely pic of him in a Saints helmet.

And the Rest Will Follow !!BONUS!!: As an added bonus for those of you who regularly snore to my boring posts (see last post), I've included a bonus link to a very interesting page detailing a staggaring number of actual American Football leagues around the world. Pretty amazing actually. I think I could be a pro football player in Japan.

Beckham, schmekham. So the guy can kick a ball. To me, all that means is that he's a glorified place kicker. Certainly no better than Adam Vinatieri. Like Beckham's ever kicked the game winning goal with seconds remaining to win the world championship durring a snow storm. Plus, one hit from someone like Brian Urlacher and this guy would be a heap of broken twigs crying for his mommy (just look at how goofy he looks in that helmet). On top of all that, read the whole article. "More importantly for sponsors, he is married to Victoria Adams, the former Posh Spice, and is friends with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes." Yeah, that will go over well with Americans. As far as I'm concerned, Tom Cruise is as American as futbol. When are people going to get it? Football is king. Period. Just look at this past NBA finals. Did anyone watch? Not many. The Stanley Cup finals? Only two games were televised. College World Series? Was it even on TV? But football... You can catch the Tennessee Tech vs. Eastern Illinois season opener on ESPN 2 and that's just on Thursday night!

Yeah good points.

I wonder if the rest of the world realizes how popular football (american) is with Americans? And I'm not even talking about NFL, cause I'm sure most people around the world know the NFL is gigantic in America. But college football is just as or more popular than the NFL. EVERY week there are PACKED out stadiums that hold over 100k people. It's like the super bowl EVERY WEEK in thousands of stadiums across the country.

I prefer soccer because you get to judge yourself against the World's Best, and not just America's best...
Americans have never dominated soccer like basketball (internationally), so I think the US loses interest in it..."what, something we're not good at?" Well that must be because it's a sport for sissys (or whatever)

I mean geaux Rhine Fire!

I mean geaux Real Madrid!

I mean...yay Football (american)!
